He came running up our driveway end of June of last year, 8/9 weeks old about 2 lbs, with the worst case of ringworm our vet had ever seen.

cardamomomomom I can hardly believe that's the same cat!
  • 14
OP Lucy_Koshka We can't either! I will say it was such a huge validation seeing the vet/tech's reactions at every check up, it really kept us going. It wasn't easy as despite every precaution the whole house got ringworm he's the sweetest little gremlin!

AcceptableFix7711 Oh wow I thought it was a hairless cat at first, you know like on purpose and for good. Amazing success story →
  • 23
OP Lucy_Koshka We thought for sure he'd at least stay gray and white?? Really unexpected that he'd turn into a true tuxie

Any_Needleworker_273 I remember when one of our cats had a small case of ringworm, and I swear the vet was pretty much like, whelp, burn your house down now. It did clear up, and thankfully none of us or the other cats got it, but this looks super rough! Nice work to you all.

Lucy Koshka OP I'm ngl, it was miserable there for those first three months or so. He was still too weak for oral meds so we had to do the baths every three days, clean his crate/the office (the room he was in) daily, wash any fabrics daily, etc. Midway through this treatment we noticed his toe sheaths were positively caked. So we incorporated nail trims/toe sheath cleanings into his routine. It was rough

Green-Cinnamon You've done such a beautiful job with him! May your kibble always be crunchy and delicious, and your litter be clumping and odor- free!

Justa420possum Wow that is an insane case of ringworm for sure and wow that transformation is awesome! | love his face markings too H
  • 40
OP Lucy_Koshka It really REALLY was! The reason why we had to do the baths so often (every three days ) at first, was because his wee immune system couldn't handle the oral meds initially. Once he was well enough, handled his vaxes okay, etc we were able to start the oral meds. Transformation really soared after those

FITF2891 I have that same towel :) can I ask how you clean the toe sheaths?
  • 42
OP Lucy_Koshka We did it after his bath so the crud was already sort of softened, and my husband would hold him wrapped on his side with one paw out at a time. I'd gently push forward each nail, and only pull the crud that seemed loose enough with tweezers. I'd also spray each toe/sheath with a ketohex spray (ketoconazole/chlorhexidine). I had to make quick work of it bc he'd obviously become uncomfortable but I really think it ended up being a crucial part of his recovery!
